The Positive Health Curriculum for Health Care Professionals
Knowledge of Positive Health and its value to health care professionals can be taught, as can the the development of Positive Health assets and their daily application in the stressful environment of medical practice.
The curriculum includes the material from Positive Health: Creating a Thriving Population, Health Doctors, and a Robust Health Economy by Dr. Snyder and others, and also includes activities and experiences interacting with other students, experiential learning and doing, and exercises to evaluate and build personal strengths and acquire the positive mind states and good health, resilience and professionalism to manage the stresses of medical practice.
Study of the curriculum and work on the activities and exercises equips the health care professional with the five PERMA skills to eliminate and then prevent burn out, stress and ill-being:
- Positive emotions
- Engagement
- Relationship
- Meaning and purpose
- Accomplishment
